Galataport was Sie wissen sollten.
Galataport opened in 2021 along a restored 1.2-kilometer waterfront in Karaköy, the result of a US$1.8 billion redevelopment by Doğuş Group and Bilgili Holding. The 400,000 m² mixed-use district preserves heritage buildings — including the 1911 Postal Building and the 1936 passenger terminal that now hosts The Peninsula Istanbul — and adds a 29,000 m² underground cruise terminal capable of berthing three large vessels. By tunneling customs and immigration below grade, the project keeps the seafront promenade open to the public.
The retail line-up of 250 shops and food outlets blends global names with strong Turkish entries: Beymen Club, Vakko, Mavi, Kahve Dünyası, D&R, Apple authorized resellers, Starbucks Reserve and rooftop restaurants such as Frankie Istanbul and Yeni Lokanta. Istanbul Modern's new Renzo Piano-designed home anchors the cultural offer, joined by the Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture and seasonal exhibitions at the restored postal building. The Nusretiye Mosque sits within the campus.
Galataport is two minutes' walk from Karaköy ferry pier and Tophane on the T1 tram, which links Sultanahmet, Eminönü and Kabataş. The M2 metro is accessible at Şişhane (uphill) or via Tophane–Karaköy. From Taksim the descent by taxi is 5 minutes; from Istanbul Airport count on 45 km via the coastal route. Paid underground parking is available, though most visitors arrive on foot from cruise ships or the tram.
