Anatolian Fortress about what you should know.
Anadolu Fortress was built in 1394 by Sultan Bayezid I — the first Ottoman fortress on the Bosphorus, intended to cut the Black Sea reinforcement routes.
Together with Rumeli Fortress on the opposite shore (1452), it controlled the narrowest point of the Bosphorus. It is much smaller than Rumeli, but its main walls are intact.
The fishing village around the fortress is one of the most authentic stretches of the Bosphorus shoreline. Ideal for restaurants, tea gardens and a seaside walk.
