Both apps and ranks route licensed yellow taxis bound by the UKOME 2026 metered tariff. Use a rank when you're at a major hub (ferry, airport, square). Use an app when you're at a hotel/restaurant or non-tourist neighborhood. Avoid hailing in busy tourist areas — that's where most scams happen.
