Why Uber is yellow-taxi-only now
In January 2023, the Yargıtay (Supreme Court of Appeals) ruled that ride-hail apps in Turkey must only dispatch licensed taxis — banning UberX, UberXL, Uber Black with private drivers. Uber re-launched in Istanbul in 2021 in compliance with this framework. Today's Uber Istanbul = yellow taxi via app.
