Taxi scam: Airport Touts Inside Terminal
Operators approach inside IST/SAW arrival hall before you reach the official rank.
How it works
Smartly dressed person with lanyard approaches in baggage hall or just outside, offers 'taxi this way.' Vehicle is not on the official rank, not insured for passengers.
Where it happens
IST Plaza level arrivals, SAW arrivals.
Red flags
- Approached indoors
- Person carries fake-looking 'airport taxi' ID
- Doesn't take you to the official rank
What to do — during
Walk past anyone offering a ride indoors. Use only the official rank on Plaza level (IST) or designated rank (SAW).
What to do — after
Report to airport police (24/7 in arrivals hall).
